At least 32 people have been killed in a collision between two trains in the northern part of the southern Egyptian city of Sohag. More than 100 people were injured in Friday’s crash, Egypt’s health ministry said. This fatal accident happened when the train was stopped suddenly by pulling the chain of the train.

As seen in the video image of the local media, two bogies of the passenger train overturned as a result of the collision. Many passengers are trapped in the overturned carriage. Debris around them. Many stranded passengers were found unconscious. Some were bleeding. Pedestrians took the body out of the carriage and laid it on the ground.

The collision took place when an unidentified man applied an emergency brake near the town of Sohag, the country’s railway authorities said. As a result of pulling the brakes, another train came and pushed from behind the stopped train.

Egypt’s health ministry said in a statement that 32 people had been killed and 107 injured. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Egypt’s public prosecutor’s office said an investigation into the crash had been ordered.

The two trains collided while moving slowly. Two bogies were completely destroyed and a third overturned, Reuters news agency reported, citing security officials in the area.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has vowed to ensure the punishment of those involved in the deadly crash.

Middle East expert Yahya Ghanem said only low-ranking officials were punished in these accidents. This has been seen in the past as well. This does not reveal the shortcomings of the country’s huge railway system. Sometimes such accidents happen every week. The government and the president are responsible for these accidents.
